Chemotherapy treatment under Chiranjeevi Scheme: Important information and application process

Cancer is a disease whose treatment is costly for the commoner. Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya Yojana aims to provide free and high-quality health services to the poor and deprived sections of the state. Treatment for various diseases, such as cancer, heart-related diseases, and other critical illnesses, are covered under this plan. Under this scheme, free chemotherapy is given to cancer patients.

Documents required for cancer treatment under Chiranjeevi Yojana:

  • To avail of benefits under the scheme, the patient must have an active Jan Aadhar card. Contact the concerned CMHO department regarding eligibility criteria and the application process.
  • If the patient wants to get cancer treatment under Chiranjeevi Yojana in an approved hospital, then it will be mandatory for him to inform about his Jan Aadhar Card / Aadhar Card at the TPA counter on the same day.
  • The patient must have an active Jan Aadhar card. If your Jan Aadhar card is involved in Chiranjeevi, then the details of entitlement in it will be as follows - SMF / PAID / NFSA.
  • It is mandatory to have a doctor's prescription which contains-
    1. Diagnosis of the patient's disease by the doctor,
    2. Also, his complaint history and any previous disease should be written about it.
    3. There should be details of the chemo medicines given to the patient,
    4. Having Chiranjeevi's code, doctor's seal (RMC No.), and signature is also mandatory.
  • Different diseases, including cancer, are also treated under Chiranjeevi Yojana. It is necessary to get the tests done per the patient's illness as the doctor prescribes. It is not possible to get treatment in Chiranjeevi without tests.
  • The patient's name should be the same as Jan Aadhaar, Aadhaar, and on medical documents. If the name does not match, then it will be mandatory for the patient to submit an affidavit.

Application process for chemotherapy treatment under Chiranjeevi Scheme:

  • First of all, the patient's medical documents are seen by the hospital. It is mandatory to have the doctor's seal and signature and the doctor's registration number (RMC) written on the complete doctor's prescription and tests related to the disease.
  • Chiranjeevi provides treatment for various diseases, including cancer. It is mandatory for the patient to get tested according to the disease before admission. Having their film along with Echo and Radiology reports is also mandatory.

  • Under Chiranjeevi Yojana, the patient's photo and biometrics are processed at the time of the patient's admission. In this, the hospital sends the patient's documents to Chiranjeevi through the portal. Chemotherapy is given to the patient only after getting further approval on the portal (no waiting for approval in an emergency). The time to get approval is approximately 2 to 4 hours. This entire admission process takes about 15 to 20 minutes for a patient.
  • At the time of discharge, documents are prepared by the hospital and uploaded to the portal along with the live photo of the patient and the photo of the patient along with the doctor. Also, the patient's feedback form is filled out by the patient and uploaded to the portal.

Do's for chemotherapy treatment under Chiranjeevi Scheme:

  • Please consult a doctor. Patient treatment will be possible under the scheme only after doctor consultation.

  • Under the scheme, treatment is free only on admission.

  • The patient must undergo tests before admission for treatment. It is not possible to get pre-approval without checks. If there is an echo, X-ray, CT, or MRI in the test, it is necessary to have its report and film, along with the signature and seal of the concerned doctor; it is also mandatory to have the doctor's registration number.

  • The patient must have a Janadhar card and Aadhar card, and updating the Aadhar card number in the Janadhar card is also mandatory.

  • The benefit of the Chiranjeevi scheme can be availed only in MMCSBY-approved hospitals.

Don't's for chemotherapy treatment under Chiranjeevi Scheme:

  • A cashless facility is not provided in OPD under Chiranjeevi.

  • Treatment under Chiranjeevi Yojana is not possible with incomplete tests and a doctor's prescription.

  • Under Chiranjeevi Yojana, the patient's treatment is free. In this, the patient is not required to deposit any amount.

  • The patient's name should be the same as Jan Aadhaar, Aadhaar, and on medical documents.

  • To get treatment under this scheme, the patient must be patient as it may take time for the hospital to process the documents. Do not commit any violence against hospital staff.
